Intercultura a "casa" nostra

My name is Avio Brooklyn. I am an exchange student from the United States going to school at Marco Belli. About a year and a half ago, I decided that I wanted to be an exchange student, and that I wanted to spend a year in Italy. It was a long process of filling out applications, but I finally finished, and got accepted to go on exchange with AFS.
When I arrived here, in Portogruaro, in September, I didn't speak any Italian, or know anything about life here, but now I do. This year hasn't been easy, but it has been a lot of fun. I have had to work very hard to learn the language, and also to learn about living in Italy because Italy is very different from the United States.
It has been exciting for me to live in Italy. I love expirienceing new things everyday, and having my whole life be an adventure. I think that for people who like exciting things, and adventure, students exchanges are a great way to expirience this.

During my time here I have been able to see what the real Italy is like, and I feel really lucky about this. I think that being an exchange student is one of the best ways to really learn about a
place, and that place's citizens. Being an exchange student has not only taught me to see Italy differently, but I have also learned a lot about people in general, and so I now see the world as a different place.

Mi chiamo Avio Brooklyn. Sono uno studente straniero, provengo dagli Stati Uniti e vado a scuola al Liceo Marco Belli. Circa un anno e mezzo fa, ho deciso che volevo prendere parte ad uno scambio di studenti e che volevo trascorrere un anno in Italia. E 'stato un lungo processo, pieno di documenti complicati, ma finalmente sono stato accettato per un scambio con AFS.
Quando sono arrivato qui, a Portogruaro, nel mese di settembre, non parlavo italiano e non sapevo nulla della vita qui, ma ora so molte cose. Quest'anno non è stato facile, ma è stato molto divertente. Ho dovuto lavorare molto duramente per imparare la lingua e anche per imparare a vivere in Italia, perché è molto diversa dagli Stati Uniti.

Durante il mio tempo qui, in Italia, sono stato in grado di vedere ciò che la vera Italia è e mi sento veramente fortunato per questo. Penso che uno scambio di studenti sia uno dei modi migliori per imparare davvero qualcosa di un luogo e dei cittadini di quel luogo. Essendo uno scambio di studenti, non solo mi ha insegnato a vedere l'Italia in modo diverso, ma ho anche imparato molto sulle persone in generale, e così ora vedo il mondo come un luogo diverso.
